2024: Equanimity-1

Retrospective Log:  

Janurary 1-31, 2023: I am now 2433 Days (approximately: 5 Years, 4 Month, 0 Weeks – LINK) and still maintaining my workout streak.

As I write this on FEB 1,  (actually the 1st was a few days ago, but whatevs).  I started off the new year with a bang, so to speak.  My sewer system just totally collapse on me.  And I was in full replacement mode for the first half of January.  I, along with some help, had to literally dig up and remove the old Orangeburg (tar-paper) pipes that made up the sewer line in the area and replace them.  To make matters worse, I had to cut through my driveway and dig beneath my HVAC outside unit.  This was a bear to say the least.  On top of that we were trying to go visit with Uncle Frankie in Montreal (we got it in) and came back to host Aunt Bibi and Cheryl for a few days.  Once they left, and we are now in Feb, Grid and I came down with a cold, thanks to Chey.  So, that was January in a nutshell.   

AREA 1:
Body:
    **Injuries/Aches:  Body is not doing too bad right now, given the thrashing over the last few weeks.  Left elbow, a bit of sciatica on the left back (previously reported on) and the lower back (psoas related previously reported on) are still hanging around, albeit not as intense.  I have also develop a dull nagging (feels muscular) sensation/pain in lower abdomen/right pubic area.  I will continue to watch that.

    **Routine: Beyond my dailies, I have not varied from my routine.  I hope to start by up and figure out a way to keep nearer to maintenance in the coming months as I step away from home-court.  I have to get better at this, since we plan to be gone more.  I will continue with the dumbbells in my routine, mentioned in my previous post.  

   **Tracked Metrics:  I hit all of my planned metrics for the month, and I am friggin stoked about that.  Last year I did not solve for the extras that I should’ve done, so this year I am gonna have to bear in mind that I need to go beyond the regular numbers, in order to make sure I am not doing a bunch of reps at the the end of the year.  

    **Supplements: No change here: 2x Berberine with meals, Psyllium Husk (fiber), Fish Oil, multi-vitamins, B-complex and Magnesium.  

   **Diet: I have not gotten back on with MFP, but I am just watching myself right now.  If I feel as though I am slipping too far, I am back on.  The big thing now is meal plans/preps.  I am relying on the female unit and she is simply not up to the task (nor am I for that matter).  I will have to figure something out, because I need to really push the protein intake a bit better.  I am not convinced that I am getting enough.  The big focus this year is on A1c, prostate health and muscle gain and weight maintenance.  All of this while travelling.

Goals:
  **Spanish:  My streak on Duolingo (545) 9AUG2022 and Drops (316 days).  I have picked up back some and has also added an online lecture (Wondrium – Spanish 1) to my list. 

    **Reading:  I started off the year read – (The 48 Laws of Human Nature – Robert Greene – Pg 55) and (Dr. Patrick Walsh’s Guide to Surviving Prostate Cancer – Pg 101).    slowed down this month, but I am gonna push to finish Group 3 this month.  I was able to clear my review stack last month, but then slow down again and started marking time.]

AREA 2:

Financials:
Markets continue their push into the new year.  The numbers are not crazy, but certainly positive.  Inflation has really calmed down and the job market is roaring.  Economically, we are not doing too bad. 

Socio/Political:
US: We are not exactly in the full swing of electioneering, but on the GOP side Trump and Haley are there and Biden is a loan wolf.
World: Israel continues its campaign in Gaza, now the US is bombing Iran backed rebels in Yemen, Syria and Iraq
World 2: Ukrain-Russia war continue – stalemate continues.

AREA 3:

Chey –  Still doing her thing at Woodland Acres.  She is now taking 3 classes this term; we will see how that goes.
Marcus – Started his job on the Truman and is just getting settled.  I still need to have a chat with him.
Grid – After what appeared to be a dedicated year, she has started off this new year a bit in the slow lane.  I am watching tho.

DareBee
Still have not missed a day of Daily Dare.   

(Kept from previous foreword) – Additionally, I have added a couple layers of complexity or demand to my workout.  First, I am religiously sticking to DareBee and the Daily Dare; I am also, keeping the preliminaries.  Second, I have added a consecutive component – so, starting with the end of IronBorn (9 April 2017), I have worked consecutively.  I intend to push for 60 straight day, then see if I can get to 90.  So far I am enjoying it and my body seems to be rising to the occasion.  I caught the flu a few day before the end of the last phase (around May 2017) – I worked through it and was back up in only a couple of days.  It appears pushing through and forcing my body to continue working, I was able to push the flu out of my way.  I am also continuing my virtual push to OKC via Benton.  I am really enjoying that but I will have to pick up the mileage here in the next phase as I am running out of time. Keep leaning forward.
