2017 – Body at Peace 8 – Foundation

Like the previous phase, I am transitioning from a double program phase into another – Spartan Trials + Total Abs to Total Abs + Foundation.  The last phase was fun, but in some cases it took quite a while to do both programs, along with my pre-workout exercises and Daily Dare.  In this new phase, I think I will just phase into a single program for now.  During the last phase, I completed my trip to OKC.  I battled back and forth, as to what to do next and while I am not sure, as I write these words, I think I will probably continue on to Boise Idaho.  My nephew Lejmarc lives out there.  I think also, it might just be my staging ground to go all the way out to Bangor, WA.  Over recent weeks I have pull back from the weekly Garmin Step Challenge.  At the same time I am maintaining my 12k minimum each day until I have completed 1 year.  I will then up it to 15k and see where it goes from there.  I am also maintaining my streak – health seems to be holding up fine in that regard too.  Feel good, feel fit and lovin’ it.

(Kept from previous foreword) – Additionally, I have added a couple layers of complexity or demand to my workout.  First, I am religiously sticking to DareBee and the Daily Dare; I am also, keeping the preliminaries.  Second, I have added a consecutive component – so, starting with the end of IronBorn, I have worked consecutively.  I intend to push for 60 straight day, then see if I can get to 90.  So far I am enjoying it and my body seems to be rising to the occasion.  I caught the flu a few day before the end of the last phase – I worked through it and was back up in only a couple of days.  It appears push through and forcing my body to continue working, I was able to push the flu out of my way.  I am also continuing my virtual push to OKC via Benton.  I am really enjoying that but I will have to pick up the mileage here in the next phase as I am running out of time. Keep leaning forward.

DareBee Exercise: Foundationis a repeat called “Fast Pace Cardio” – comprise of 4 different types of Jacks – side step, side, march and cross step.  I think I may have upped the intensity on the last one a bit, but that was good.  I did level III on this bad boy too.  Daily Dare: No issue.  I think in order to get higher in the list, I will have to my DD before I go to bed.  The last few days I have been way down on the list.  I will have to remedy that. As far as the climbers tap, I really like them.   Preliminaries: No issues with pre’s – I was able to work them while doing Foundation and so I found this to be great increasing the intensity of the exercise period.  Distance:  Added  6.40 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Going where I must go!  Ciao!

DareBee Exercise: Foundation, is called “Strength” – included squats, knee strikes, calf raises, followed by tricep dips, arm raises and arm circles.  Not too bad.  Daily Dare: Just realized what might have been going on with DD.  It appears they updated the server or software and switch my account to East Europe time zone.  I was therefore thrown off for a few say.  At any rate today DD was not too bad.  I think I have done this exercise correct for the first time.  I think it is easier than how I have been doing it, but no worries, I think I benefitted.  Preliminaries: No issues with pre’s – was helped out a bit by the squats in Foundation.  Distance:  Added  5.91 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  The stars will be the limit!  Ciao!

Daily Dares : 60 Sec Boat Pose Hold
Summary: So this is a late post because I got taken up with a productivity project all day and did not record my info.  So the final TA is now behind me and I considered adding a second exercise, but I think I am gonna pull back a bit. I am doing 60’s in pre’s right now so I think I can take a little breather for now.  Pretty cool workout today.   Final Total Abs today is another repeat “Power Plant”.  I did the level 3 on this for the first time and did not have any problem at all.  It included regular, elbow, raised, side for a 60 sec per duration.   Foundation, is called “Flutter Kick” – 100 in total.  I will have to turn these up or I will be forced to add another exercise.  I am trying to stay disciplined but I might not be able to hold out.   DD was not posted in the right place today, but I found it and was the first on the list.  No issues with the Boat Pose Hold at all.   Pre’s were no issues either.  No pains to really complain about; just a slight in my lower back – right side.  Added  7.60 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  The future is mine to make!  Ciao!

DAY 5/29 [OCT 5] – Day 184 of 200
Distance: 23.81 + 6.13 = 29.94 (LA-OK-ID Run: 1347.56)
Cardio (Mixed: Road/Steps): 6.13 @ 95.00 min (A little time on the Road again)
Daily Dares : 30 Half Shrimp Squats
Summary: Pretty cool workout today.  Trying to blend two lower level exercises is a bit tricky but fun nonetheless.  Total Abs today is just a repeat of the “Circuit” of a few day ago – see here.  I found the raised leg circles a bit easy this time around.  I was struggling the last time.   Foundation, is called “Fast Pace Cardio”.  It was pretty close to day 1, but a little different.  It included 3 types of jacks, two  (cross step and step twist) that I have never done; but all around it was really fun.  DD was the infamous half shrimp squat – this is an ass kick, but I made it harder than I should.  I was trying to do full shrimp, as opposed to half.  I didn’t realize until I went in to make my log entry that I realized it should have been half.  No worries tho, they were fun.  Pre’s were all good.  It dragged on a bit because I forgot to do squats and planks.  Added  6.13 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  My journey began inside!  Ciao!

DAY 4/28 [OCT 4] – Day 183 of 200
Distance: 17.41 + 6.40 = 23.81 (LA-OK-ID Run: 1341.43)
Cardio (Mixed: Road/Steps): 6.40 @ 91.00 min (Back on the Road again)
Daily Dares : 60 Sec Squats
Summary: Not a bad workout – was planning to finish early, like in the morning, but life just knocked me on my but.  At any rate, Total Abs today is called “Lower Back”.  I think it is a repeat, but I can’t say so for sure.  It included lower back curls, supermans and bridges.  Not a bad sequence, I ended up doing along with the Foundation cycle.  Foundation, is called “Stretching”.  It includes – back stretches, alt arm and leg raises, bridges and knee rolls.  The reps were pretty low so I included it with TA into combined sets.  DD was pretty cool.  I was able to manage about 41 in the time, but have done a tremendous amount of squats in recent days, I just didn’t have the energy today.  I loved it tho.  No issues with pre’s – just bizniz as usual.  Added  6.41 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  I will go up to where I belong!  Ciao!

DAY 3/27 [OCT 3] – Day 182 of 200
Distance: 11.00 + 6.41 = 17.41 (LA-OK-ID Run: 1335.03)
Cardio (Mixed: Road/Steps): 6.41 @ 91.00 min (Back on the Road again)
Daily Dares : 60 Sec Tucked in Side Plank
Summary: First day on the change over felt pretty good.  For some reason, it feels a bit different – maybe it is the Fall.  Total Abs today is a repeat called “Flutter Kicks”, nothing to it beyond a whole bunch of flutter kicks – 600 to be exact.  Foundation, is called “Fighter”.  It includes jabs + crosses, low front kicks, overhead punches, and knee strikes.  At the pace at which this is going, I will definitely have to add something else to it.  Actually with the increase to 60s on pre’s that might not be too back tho.  I will see. DD was a first for me, but I rather enjoyed it.  In fact I had to start over once – good to practice balancing.  Pre’s were pretty cool today – knocking out 60 pushups at a go, is pretty exciting.  Can’t wait to do that routinely.  Added  6.41 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Being focus is being alive!  Ciao!

DAY 2/26 [OCT 2] – Day 181 of 200
Distance: 5.50 + 5.50 = 11.00 (LA-OK-ID Run: 1328.62)
Cardio (Mixed: Road/Steps): 11.00 @ 78.00 min (Back on the Road again)
Daily Dares : 50 Plank Leg Raises
Summary: First day on the change over felt pretty good.  For some reason, it feels a bit different – maybe it is the Fall.  At any rate – Total Abs today is called “Action Plank”, can’t say this was a repeat.  Much of what is consist of I have done over the past 25 days, but today was different enough to take note.  It included – plank arm and leg raise, side planks and up and down planks.  Foundation, so on day 2 it was still pretty easy.  Upped it to level 2.  This included – a series of lunges, step back and step ups, lunge step ups followed by a series of arm raises, circles and hold.  All in all not too bad workout day.  DD was not too bad, but given the TA requirement, it added an element of challenge to it.  Pre’s got ratcheted up a bit to 60s.  No issues today.   Added  5.50 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  It is never easy being great!  Ciao!

DAY 1/25 [OCT 1] – Day 180 of 200
Distance: 0.0 + 5.50 = 5.50 (LA-OK-ID Run: 1323.12)
Cardio (Mixed: Treadmill/Steps): 5.50 @ 78.00 min (On the treadmill again)
Daily Dares : 20 Dragon Push Ups
Summary: Awesome close out workout for Spartan Trials.  Aunt Edna is back home.  Total Abs today is called “2 min Abs”, this was not a repeat, at least not that I can remember.  I found it annoying.  I had to switch to 6 different exercises every 20 sec for a total of 2 mins.  I was supposed to do this 2x, one in the morn and one in the evening.  However, I ended up doing 20 reps per exercise, twice at one session.  It might be off, but I think I got more of a burn in, so I am not losing anything here or cheating.  Foundation , this is the new addition to the regime and relatively tame and simple – it is called “Fast Paced Cardio”.  I will give this a few days and see if I have to add another one to it once Total Abs is finished. It includes a bunch of different Jacks – step, side and march, that I have never heard of and rounded out with slide leg raises, that I am intimately familiar with.  DD was not too easy, but since my push up is in good shape, I had no issues (1st of the block on this – 1OB).  No issues with pre’s I have upped it to 60 per/per session.  Added  5.50 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  It is never easy being great!  Ciao!
