2023 – ReBalance 10 – Focus

Retrospective Log:  

OCTOBER 1-31, 2023: I am now 2340 Days (approximately: 5 Years, 1 Month, 0 Weeks – LINK) and still maintaining my workout streak.

Physical
As I write this on 1NOV (yup, I have to say this is weird again,  because I am actually on-time.  I am feeling pretty good all around.  Last month I was a bit on the achy side, but I have really listened to and worked within the constraints of my body.  I gave myself time to heal and was able to not just get back to where I stopped, but also surpassed it.  My shoulder are pretty much back – knock on wood.  I still have a slight strain in the left bicep.  I just started putting stress back on both biceps during the last couple sessions and they have responded well for the most part.  My shoulders were out of commission for awhile, but I have started putting stress again, and I am really liking how they are responding.  My back, as I indicated last month was coming around.  I have really just stuck to the barbell and not will the back extension.  I will start working in back in the next few weeks, but over the last month I have pretty much kept away.  The pain level as retreated for the most part.

    **Supplements: I am continuing with Berberine and is pretty steady on that, along with psyllium husk (fiber).  I had Fish Oil going, but I ran out and did not replace it due to considerations surrounding a lip situation that I have going on right now.  It has been going on for sometime and since the Fish Oil is not implicated in that, I am gonna start back.

   **Tracked Metrics:  I hit most of my planned metrics for the month, but my Total Calories Burned did not quite get to 100%; I will take being in the 90% range and go with that.

   **Diet: I am still using MFP and while I might be slightly a bit behind on entries this month, I am pretty close to the truth.  I am still being honest there.  One thing that keeps amazing me is my Intermittent Fasting.  I 100% see the benefits of this.  The main thing though is that you have to really do so with intentionality.

Financials
The market is a bit sideways right now and probably even a bit on the regression path.  Inflation is still up, but the Feds decided not to raise interest rates beyond the high that is currently is at right now.

Socio/Political:
So, today 3OCT, for the first time in the history of these United States, Speaker of the House of Representatives was removed by his own members.  Kevin McCarthy was removed by Matt Gaetz of Florida.

After 3 weeks and several attempts to replace the SoH, they ended up with  an election denier, christian warrior named – Mike Johnson from Louisiana.  This gonna be a friggin’ disaster.

The Trump trials continue to wind their way through the court system.  He got fine 15k so far this month and is possibly looking at jail time if he continues to defy a number of gag order that has been placed on him.

In the coming weeks we will have another budget vote coming up.  We will have to see if the republic will just have to fail on this account. The loonies on the other side don’t really give a sh*t, so we will just have to take it there.

World:
Israel-Palestine: Today, Oct 8th – The Palestinians (Hamas more directly) launched a huge attack against the Israeli state with hundreds killed and thousands injured on both sides.  This is a very bad thing.

As I write this on the 1st of November, Israel has started ground assault into Gaza.  So far, it is been reported that the number of Palestinian dead is well over 8,000 to the estimated 1400 Israel during the attack.

Not much is coming over the wires on Ukraine, since the Israel-Palestine war started, but it appears that Ukraine continues its push in the south to displace entrenched Russian forces.

Goals:
Spanish –  My streak on Duolingo (450) 9AUG2022 and Drops (220).  I slowed down this month, but I am gonna push to finish Group 3 this month.  I was able to clear my review stack last month, but then slow down again and started marking time.

Chey –  So Ms Theng is doing her theng now.  She is now working at a local elementary school named – Woodland Acres.  She is volunteering there through a program called City Year.  They work with AmeriCorps and so she is sort of just laterally moving from her previous to this.  She is back in school at UF and so we hope all will work out here, as she works toward her emancipation. We have had a couple of tough talks, but that is to be expected.   

Marcus – ‘kis is coming up on the final phase of his prototype portion of his training.  We were expecting to get to his graduation on the 9th of November, but it appears that it might be pushed back some.  No sweat though, it appears he is doing his thing and on track to start his first actual assignment in December on the Truman.  He wants us to do Thanksgiving with his girlfriend and her parents.

Grid – We are approaching the end of the year and so she will need to stand before herself and give an accounting.

DareBee
Still have not missed a day of Daily Dare.  My focus right now is lifting and getting stronger, so I have limited my the scope of my workout to cover as much in short a time as possible.

(Kept from previous foreword) – Additionally, I have added a couple layers of complexity or demand to my workout.  First, I am religiously sticking to DareBee and the Daily Dare; I am also, keeping the preliminaries.  Second, I have added a consecutive component – so, starting with the end of IronBorn (9 April 2017), I have worked consecutively.  I intend to push for 60 straight day, then see if I can get to 90.  So far I am enjoying it and my body seems to be rising to the occasion.  I caught the flu a few day before the end of the last phase (around May 2017) – I worked through it and was back up in only a couple of days.  It appears pushing through and forcing my body to continue working, I was able to push the flu out of my way.  I am also continuing my virtual push to OKC via Benton.  I am really enjoying that but I will have to pick up the mileage here in the next phase as I am running out of time. Keep leaning forward.
