2017 – Body at Peace 10 – Fit Christmas Plus

As I enter my the final month of the year, I feel a profound sense of accomplishment.  Besides a few normal aches, I feel superb.   As I make this transition, I have worked out 240 consecutive days.  Yes, I never been here before and it sure feel awesome.   I have also began meditating on a daily basis and that is coming a long quite well.  I am also steadily coming on bit by bit with the guitar, a life long promise I have made myself, but up until now, did not believe I would ever be able to play.  I am continuing my push to Idaho, covering 200 miles since I left OKC.  According to Google Maps, I should be entering the Pawnee National Park here in the next few days.  I have help back on competing much in the Garmin Step Challenge, but continue to maintain my daily 12k minimum.  I push into no man land for me and the journey is not only rewarding on an emotional, physical and mental level, the meditative quality of it is also opening up new awarenesses for me.  It is beautiful and I am loving the journey.

(Kept from previous foreword) – Additionally, I have added a couple layers of complexity or demand to my workout.  First, I am religiously sticking to DareBee and the Daily Dare; I am also, keeping the preliminaries.  Second, I have added a consecutive component – so, starting with the end of IronBorn (9 April 2017), I have worked consecutively.  I intend to push for 60 straight day, then see if I can get to 90.  So far I am enjoying it and my body seems to be rising to the occasion.  I caught the flu a few day before the end of the last phase (around May 2017) – I worked through it and was back up in only a couple of days.  It appears push through and forcing my body to continue working, I was able to push the flu out of my way.  I am also continuing my virtual push to OKC via Benton.  I am really enjoying that but I will have to pick up the mileage here in the next phase as I am running out of time. Keep leaning forward.

: I am logging from Benton –  we came in late last night and trying to get in a workout while driving and dealing with bad weather is no joke.  Got a workout in but steps did not make the count.  As long as I make it up while on the road and get halfway to my goal, I will not count it as a miss.

: I am logging from OKC – This is my second day in OKC…well, we came in late last night and I am really having a pretty relaxed time here.  I know I have said this, but trying to get in workout on the road is not easy at all..

: I am logging from Millington TN – Pretty long driving day and doing my workout at the end made this a monster to do.  Trying to do this on the road is not easy.  
DareBee Exercise (WOD): is “AfterShock” – After a long driving day – this was quite a challenge – won’t get into much.  You can see what it is comprised of here – Check!.   Daily Dare (167):  “2 Min Raised Arm Circles” – I could here the rotator cuff screaking a bit – it needs a bit of oil I suppose.  At any rate, this was not that bad.  While it more on the easy side, it got the ol’ shoulder a bit warm – Check!.   Baseline: Pretty straight forward, no issue – Check!.   Distance:  Added 5.50 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

: This is a late log.   I am here in Millington TN and it late so not much to really get into.  
DareBee Exercise (WOD): is “Breathing Workout” – Nice, easy and refreshing again to get a workout that does not stress too much over the holidays.  At any rate I am good with what they have thrown at us thus far and I will be hard press not to continue through the end of the year. You can see what it is comprised of here – Check!.   Daily Dare (166):  “40 Seagulls” – This is not an easy exercise if your core is not up to par.  I enjoyed it quite a bit; well…I am not sure if enjoyed is the right word, but I did not find it uncomfortably challenging – Check!.  Baseline: Nothing much to say here again, just pushed through and completed without issue – Check!.   Distance:  Added 6.50 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary
: Pretty ok workout day – sort of cool but I was able to workout with Mark so it was pretty cool.  
DareBee Exercise (WOD): is “Christmas Rockout” – Nice and easy.  Lots of baseline movement so that was very helpful.  You can see what it is comprised of here – Check!.   Daily Dare (165):  “2 Min Meditation” – Awesome.  I was able to work this into my normal routine.  I have come to understand and love meditating each day.  Don’t know why I came back to it so late – Check!.  Baseline: Won’t want much here, save that it has enjoyed quite a bit from the other areas of my workout.  Distance:  Added 6.91 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary
: Good and early workout today, helped by the short yoga workout from WOD.  Not complaining as it gives me much need time with the family.   
DareBee Exercise (WOD): is “Backup and Restore” – It really was refreshing to take a step back and do a bit of yoga today.  I realize how much I need to stretch more and will probably work in this morning routine with my regular.  You can see what it is comprised of here – Check!.   Daily Dare (164):  “50 Calf Raises” – Oh yeah I can feel the burn…can you.  Don’t mind the calf burn, not that intense for the number of reps – Check!.   Advent Day 24:  “40 Jumping Lunges” – There is no way to say that this is not at all challenging.  Lunges and squats are the hardest or toughest exercises for me.  I did these early so they were especially hard on the knees.  At any rate, I am done with the Advent Calendar today – Yaaay!  Baseline: I am on a early role, no issues with baseline.  I got pretty much no assist from the other areas, but that is ok, I am good with that.  Distance:  Added 6.54 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

: Well, yesterday I spent quite a bit of time running around, but was able to get my workout in early due to need to get done  before other obligations in the day. Today, time got away from and I had to force my workout at the end of the day.  
DareBee Exercise (WOD): is “Sucker Punch” – I think it would be a slight understatement to say it is not easy.  It did give my leg a bit of a working out for sure  You can see what is comprised of here – Check!.   Daily Dare (163):  “20 Sky Diver Push Ups” – I will not stop my overnight push into the future.  These were a bit different from what I am used to.  I have never done them before – Check!.   Advent Day 23:  “2 min March Steps” – Not at all challenging.  I like this exercise tho because it gets your heart pumping with not too much fanfare – Check!  Baseline: Well after getting such good help from the other areas, who would or could complain here in the baseline department.  Distance:  Added 6.52 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

DareBee Exercise (WOD): is “Out of Excuses” – This was not easy in any way whatsoever.  It was not only heavy on planking, but it gave the legs a kick in the seat; it was also somewhat useful to my baseline as well.  You can see what is comprised of here – Check!   Daily Dare (162):  “20 Hop Heel Clicks” – Can’t stop the overnight train my dear, it is in full swing – Check!.   Advent Day 22:  “50 Full Burpees” – A bit challenging but not as much as I thought it would be – Check!  Baseline: Well after getting such good help from the other areas, who would or could complain here in the baseline department.  Distance:  Added 6.71 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary
: Really good workout today.  For some reason the night comes quick.  I don’t know why but maybe I just need to workout even earlier so I can go outside, relax and have a drink or so.  I will see.   
DareBee Exercise (WOD): is “Andromeda” – Not that bad of a workout.  It wasn’t that intense but just right for the level that I felt for today.  Not that I am hussing out, I had a pretty intense workout yesterday with the chap and didn’t want a back to back. You can see what it is comprised of here – Check!   Daily Dare (158):  Yep, the overnight is going good;  it was funny pushing out these after a pretty intense workout with Papito  – Check!.   Advent Day 19:  “100 Mountain Climbers” – Really helped out my baseline today.  Felt really good getting to nice numbers in there – Check!  Baseline: Another good workout here.  Got lots of help from other areas so that was a big positive.  Distance:  Added 6.17 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary
: Awesome workout today – worked out with my son.  He is relatively good shape considering.  He was able to keep up for the most part, but with some effort.  I will give him some advice on how to keep in the fitness zone year round.  My rest is also coming along quite well; sleep numbers are up.    
DareBee Exercise (WOD): is “NutCracker” – Pretty intense with lots of jumping Jacks; I really enjoyed this quite a bit.  You can see what it is comprised of here – Check!   Daily Dare (157):  Back on the overnight train once more again;  I did some of these recently so not a big challenge here – Check!.   Advent Day 18:  “40 knee-to-elbow” – Easy day, although working at this after everything above plus baseline below was a little more than much – Check!  Baseline: Really enjoyed today’s session, especially working out with my son. : A bit  better than yesterday.  Got through most of my doings for the day.  I don’t feel too drained as I did yesterday and the day before; then again I have had quite a bit of rest in the last couple nights – that has been quite helpful.

: Here is a drawn out day again.  I got up relatively early to start the day but ended up working out kinda late.  At any rate, body still feels a bit drained, so I am taking it kinda easy – don’t want to overdo it too much now.   
DareBee Exercise (WOD): is “Wax-on-Wax-Off” – Please good workout.  I have don’t this variety in  a while, good to mix it up again.  You can see what it is comprised of here – Check!   Daily Dare (156):  Off the overnight train again;  I have done quite a few Reverse Angel in recent days – Check!.   Advent Day 16:  “2 Min Hollow Hold” – this was challenging, especially since I realized that I had to do it after doing 60 hold for tomorrow, DD.  At any rate, I got through it no issues – Check!  Baseline: Won’t talk about the boring factor here again, just deal with it dude and move on.  Distance:  Added 6.00 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

: Kind of a weird workout day in terms of feeling.  Felt a bit tired, but once I got moving and picked it up the tiredness sort of went away.  I don’t feel like I am coming down with anything and I certainly won’t be stopping my streak for nothing.

DareBee Exercise (WOD): is “Daybreak” – It is essentially an upperbody workout for the back.  It was pretty cool you can see it here – Check!   Daily Dare (154):  Did not do the overnight thing this time around. Just felt pretty tired and did not want to get sweaty – Check!.   Advent Day 14:  “40 Reverse Angels” – not that challenging and I did get some help from the WOD – Check!  Baseline: No real issue – yeah, the boring factor is creeping up.  I have to figure out someway to change it up.  Distance:  Added 6.12 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

: Pushed through regular workout and additionals today relatively quickly; just trying to catch up and get a bit ahead.   Today is the final day for Christmas Fit.  I will take a look at what else is coming up to see if I want to jump on it.  I still have Advent to push through, but I feel fit and fresh enough to continue another mini-workout challenge.  
DareBee Exercise (Christmas Fit) 12: is “400 High Knees” – Nothing to it… I do these all day – everyday – Check!   Daily Dare (152):  Originally did this as a hold, but went back and redid.  Pretty good exercise for the leg –  no issues – Check!.   Advent Day 12:  40 Plank Rotations – Check!  Baseline: Just continuing to plug away without issue.   Distance:  Added 8.30 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary: Wow…still weiding from the long drive.  Head still a bit groggy, but I am still plugging away at this journey.  At time willpower steps is – like last night and push you down the road – giving yourself up to the process is almost spiritual.    DareBee Exercise (Christmas Fit): is “Cardio” – included jumping jacks – after 4000 so far this week, I really wasn’t looking forward to any more jumping jacks, additionally, I had to do shoulder taps.  Daily Dare (148):  Due to being on the road, could not do that on prior.  At any rate, pretty easy – no issues – Check! .  By the way, back feels relatively well.  Advent Day 8:  40 Raised Leg Circles – really had to push to get to this.  Got to NY pretty late, pretty tired, but what must be done must be done – Check!  Baseline: Again, nothing much to write here again, just plugged through without issue.  I am a bit more tired than usual tho.   Distance:  Added 6.00 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary: Good day.  No backache…yaaay!  Got up took car in and got my workout in.  As I start this log, I only have to complete the cardio portion of my daily.  I finished up the Christmas Tree challenge and still plugging away.    DareBee Exercise (Christmas Fit): is “Endurance Challenge” – included all arms: 2min each – scissors chops, arm scissors, raised side arm circles and arm hold.  I did level2 and honestly, it challenged me.  I did get a pretty good burn – love it tho.   Daily Dare (147):  Back in the mix again with the overnight DD – not too challenging even though the back is still giving me a warm time.  I am good tho – Check! .  Tweaked my upper back right side just beneath the scapula.  I probably could have forced it but no need.  Got it done this morning.  Advent Day 7:  2min raised arm circle – I was able to take advantage of today main workout under Christmas Fit – Check!  Christmas Tree Challenge Day 7 – Done! Summary: Really good day coming off of, well my back got a bit tight yesterday and remains so today.  I was able to hobble through my workout, but don’t get me wrong, I worked it.  I am almost done with the Christmas Tree challenge and Ia still plugging away at the Christmas Fit program.  I love it.  DareBee Exercise (Christmas Fit): is “200 Squat Challenge”.  Not much to say here, but that it challenged the crap out of me with a tight back.  I did it out of 100% willpower.  Daily Dare (146):  Departure from the previous night streak – Check! .  Tweaked my upper back right side just beneath the scapula.  I probably could have forced it but no need.  Got it done this morning.  Advent Day 6:  50 Jump Squats – was truly a pain in the back, on top of the already pain in the back – Check!  Christmas Tree Challenge Day 4 – I have pretty much completed the challenge (90%).  I will finish it up early tomorrow and get the badge – Check!   Baseline: Nothing much to write home about here beside the fact that I am just knocking it out the park each day.   Distance:  Added 7.11 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 6 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary: Besides the fact that I started the day ahead and then got thrown off by external interaction, I did quite fine    DareBee Exercise: is “HIIT”.  Pretty good – included step march, high knees, plank and side arm rotations.  Not bad at all.   Daily Dare (144): Yep, the previous night streak still continue – Check! .  This admittedly was a beast.  I had a pretty long and hard series today, and doing this overnight took something out of me – no pain no gain.    Advent Day 4: 240x Shoulder Taps – Check!  Christmas Tree Challenge Day 2 – Check!   Baseline: Pretty straightforward day, did get some help from all the challenges that I am involved in.  Another full fitness day.  Distance:  Added 6.30 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 7 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary: Another nice but intense day.  I decided to do the Christmas Tree challenge and it bumped up my challenge over the next 8 days off the chart.  I am trying to put 3 presents on the tree, but since I will be on the road, that is gonna be tough.  DareBee Exercise: is “200x Leg Raises”.  Not much to say here but I was supposed to do it spread out over the day, but did not.  It did hurt a bit to pull it all in all at once with the rest of the exercise, including 500 jumping Jacks, 200 flutter kicks and 400 pushups.  Daily Dare:  The previous night streak in still on.  No issues with this – relatively easy.  I started woking on the Advent Calendar, but I starting to lose my bearing.  I will just add it to the dailies to keep track.  Advent Day 3: 2min High Knees – Check!  Christmas Tree Challenge Day 1 – Check!   Baseline: With everything else going on, this is almost like a joke – but keep it on the real, very full fitness day.  Distance:  Added 6.70 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 7 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary: Nice follow up to my workout yesterday.  I am really liking this Fit Christmas deal.    DareBee Exercise: is “Strength”.  It included Squats, lunges, shoulder taps and pushups.  This is really a good program; I enjoyed it much.  Daily Dare:  Did this previous night again and it  helped quite a bit, pretty easy – no issues whatsoever. Honestly, I like this exercise; felt it in the abs alot.  Baseline: Did get a bit of help; not as much as yesterday, but quite a bit nonetheless. Today, I broke it up into 20s with sets of 5, except for a few – leg lifts and situps.  Distance:  Added 6.40 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 7 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary: Pretty good first workout day of Christmas Fitness – off and running.   DareBee Exercise: is “Cardio”.  It included Jumping Jacks, Knee-to-Elbows, High Knees, and Climbers.  Pretty matter of fact exercises which helped tremendously with baseline.   Daily Dare:  I did this previous night, so that helped quite a bit on time, pretty easy – no issues whatsoever.   Baseline: Did get a whole heap of help from the main DB so this was really a cake walk. I felt good doing 50s on the pushups.  Distance:  Added 7.32 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 7 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!
