2017 – Body at Peace 9 – 30 Days of Change

I can probably say that I am firmly resolved in my habit of sticking to my fitness commitment.  I feel so good and proud of what I have accomplished thus far.  As I make this transition, I have worked out 209 consecutive days.  This is a first in my entire life.  I feel as if I am in good health and ready to take on the world.  I am now exploring other aspect to bring this “sticktuitiveness” to as well.  The last phase was not that challenging, but it did give me a chance to find a good rhythm.  As we go into winter, I will like pick up the cardio aspect so as to keep the activity level from waning.  I am still working my way towards Idaho, I didn’t meet my time hack last time,but I went well over in all the other areas, so that made up for it some.  I continue to maintain my 12k minimum step (5mi) each day, but I did not really compete this past month in the Garmin step challenge.  Bottomline is I am on a roll and feeling good babeee!

(Kept from previous foreword) – Additionally, I have added a couple layers of complexity or demand to my workout.  First, I am religiously sticking to DareBee and the Daily Dare; I am also, keeping the preliminaries.  Second, I have added a consecutive component – so, starting with the end of IronBorn (9 April 2017), I have worked consecutively.  I intend to push for 60 straight day, then see if I can get to 90.  So far I am enjoying it and my body seems to be rising to the occasion.  I caught the flu a few day before the end of the last phase (around May 2017) – I worked through it and was back up in only a couple of days.  It appears push through and forcing my body to continue working, I was able to push the flu out of my way.  I am also continuing my virtual push to OKC via Benton.  I am really enjoying that but I will have to pick up the mileage here in the next phase as I am running out of time. Keep leaning forward.

Summary: So today is the final day of 30 Days of Change.  I have learned so much over the last 30 days it is not even funny.  My body feels good and I feel the healthiest I have felt in my entire life.  DareBee Exercise: Today  the final day of 30DoC was “Cardio and Abs”.  Not much to say here as this was a repeat. I have really enjoyed this program – it was not that intense for me, I am relatively fit so it did not challenge me that much.  It however, kept the wheels moving so I am proud of myself for going another 30 days without stop. Another 30 days of change.  Daily Dare:  I was not able to do this on the early, as I have the previous 2 days – it was just too intense to do before bed, besides, I was just too tired.  At any rate, it was every bit challenging as I anticipated.  I love it, but it had my heart rate up and moving.  Baseline: Did get some help from the final day of DB but I ended up push it up a notch.  I hti 100+ totals across the board – 105s to be exact.  I am contemplating switch out of some of these exercise as my body is probably getting too used to them and need a change.  It is also becoming a bit boring to be honest.  I will think on it, but in the meantime, I will carry on.  So what’s next, I was gonna take off from DB, but I will continue to do the DD and any fun fitness program come up in the month of December.  More tomorrow.  Distance:  Added 5.93 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 7 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary: Closing in on the final workout of this program.  As I indicated, I am probably gonna take a rest from the full DareBee program and just do baseline and DD through December.  For the final month of 2017.   Last night I did this pretty late, so I am getting a jump on it tonight.  DareBee Exercise: Today was “Bodyweight Cardio”.  This definitely the first time doing this and it was actually fun.  It had a whole complement the baseline.  It included – high knees, side to side jumps, pushups, punches, plank walkouts, toe tap hops, climbers taps.  It was a full body workout and it felt like it.  I might have to work it into my regimen over December.  Daily Dare:  Not that easy – squat hops, but I did them before bed, so hopefully that will buy me some time tomorrow.   Baseline: Oh yeah.  Today was a bumper crop for baseline due to how many exercise contributed from DB.  The main exercise was a full workout anyway, so I did not lose anything.  Distance:  Added 5.90 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 7 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary: This is kind of a rush job.  Did not get to workout until pretty late and I am trying to develop mini habit of going to bed early but here I am at 1208am.  At any rate – DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio (40mins) and Stretch”.   Cardio was pretty matter of fact and the stretches, I have don’t them several times before – toe touches, hip flexor stretches and calf raises; nothing to write home about.  Daily Dare:  Relatively easy.  Did this again before going to bed so it was not any issue in play today; beside, I am on my ass trying to get up and go today.   Baseline: No issues here as again; kinda weird though, I sped through them quite fast, felt a bit easy.   Distance:  Added 5.80 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Rest: I will get 7 hours of sleep each night!  Ciao!

Summary: Really crazy how today is going.  I am making this post on the 28th after almost a full day trying to get it together.  At any rate, I have probably began this log 3 or 4 times now, but for some reason I can’t get it finished.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio (40mins) and Sprints”.   It was a pretty interesting day.  I was able to hit level 9s for the first time in a while.  I ran 8.5 for 5 mins, so that tells you my fitness level is not that bad.  I hit 9s on the sprints.   Daily Dare:  No issues here whatsoever, I love pushups so this was right in my wheelhouse.  I did it the night before too, so that did not come in place during the actual workout day.   Baseline: No issues here as usual; absolutely no help from the program, but again that’s aaaighht.  Distance:  Added 6.42 mi to my total on my way to Boise. Rest: I will get 7 hours of sleep each night   Ciao!

Summary: Today seemed run by pretty fastly.  No worries though, I feel as though I have accomplished quite a bit over the last couple days and I am liking my fitness level.  I need to start thinking what to do next.  I think I will refrain from starting an new program.  I will just stick with my pre’s – which are no longer pre’s – I will have to now call them baseline.  I will have to up them to 100’s though and at some point go for 100 pushups before the end of the year.  DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio (60mins) and Abs (Full Burpees)”.  This was  not a repeat – I have not always had a good relationship with Burpees, so I would remember.  Generally, I like this series – I also found the burpees to be quite easy.  I did 3 set (24, 28, 28).  They did not feel that challenging really.     Daily Dare:  I was the first one on station – not that challenging either.  Baseline: No issues here; not much assist from the program, but that’s aaaighht.  Distance:  Added 6.93 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Manage Energy, Minimize Distraction, Focus on Priorities!  Ciao!

Summary: Pick up the pieces.  Spent most of today working down issues.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Upper Body Focus”.  This is a repeat of a few days ago.  I like this exercise because it pushes the upperbody. It consist of alternating pushups and punches.   Daily Dare:  I just learned that this is good for sciatica so I will be using it quite a bit.    Preliminaries: No issues here.  Besides pushups from the main, I was left on my own.  Distance:  Added 7.00 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Manage Energy, Minimize Distraction, Focus on Priorities!  Ciao!

Summary: Another offish kinda workout day.  Spent most of the day down in Ocala before coming back up to Jax and then having to hurry through the workout.  Got it done tho but it was not fun.  I can see that it will be a nightmare during our trip out west.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio and Focus Leg Circuit”.  I sure I have done this already, so it was not a surprise in anyway.   I did the cardio after the leg workout – the leg workout consisted of lung step up, side leg raises and jump squats. Jump squats are alway mean, but they work wonders I swear I love the burn just a little bit before it becomes unbearable.  Daily Dare:  I got to this pretty late.  It was relatively easy.  I believe I have had to hold this for 60 seconds and so 30 sec is not too back, 60 – oh yeah…not so easy.   Preliminaries: Just a bit of help in the squat department, but generally, no issues.   Distance:  Added 6.70 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Manage Energy, Minimize Distraction, Focus on Priorities!  Ciao!

Summary: Sort of a weird workout day.  Got up rushed it and still did not complete up to 1000. At any rate, here we go.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Circuit Endurance”.  I may have done this before but I don’t remember. It included alternating jumping jacks and knee to elbows.  For part 2 it included planks and wall sits.  Wall  sit is a monster – I will have to develop endurance for that.  Daily Dare:  Another relatively easy DD.  It, however, felt pretty good in terms of range of motion expression.  Preliminaries: No issues at all.  Got quite a bit of help from the main exercise.  I felt a bit stiff on pushups though.  Distance:  Added 5.30 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Manage Energy, Minimize Distraction, Focus on Priorities!  Ciao!

Summary: Not a back workout.  Was out all day so got to it pretty late.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio and Stretching”.   Pretty identical to a few days ago again, the difference this time is that cardio was a bit longer.  Cardio was a 40 min run/walk and the stretching consisted of toe touches, hip flexor stretch and calf raises.   Daily Dare:  Not much effort to do this one, but I don’t think it is necessarily from lack of intensity of the exercise, the leg is relatively strong.  Preliminaries: No issues here at – got some worked off while waiting at the clinic, so took down the intense later on.  Distance:  Added 7.74 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Manage Energy, Minimize Distraction, Focus on Priorities!  Ciao!

Summary: Pretty good, albeit a bit rushed workout today.    DareBee Exercise: Today was “Upper body and Abs”.   Pretty identical to a few days ago.- a set of arm chops along with raised side arm rotations for upper body and flutter kicks, scissors and leg lifts for abs.  Pretty nice workout actually and it did help my pre’s a bit.   Daily Dare:  I did this the night before – it wasn’t challenging at all.  Just push through it without a sweat.  Preliminaries: No issues here at – got some help from the main, as indicated above.  Distance:  Added 5.10 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Manage Energy, Minimize Distraction, Focus on Priorities!  Ciao!

Daily Dares : 2 min Uneven Plank
Summary: Late workout but pretty intense.  Lots of sprints, push up, squats.  Level 8 on the treadmill felt pretty routine. Level 7 is comfortably in my wheelhouse and 7.5 is getting there.  Don’t want to force it too much too quick though.  DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio and Sprints”.   I think I may have seen something like this before, but I changed it up a bit.  THis time I followed the script and it was awesome.  I started with a 10min run at 7.5.  I then did alternating sprint at level 9 with 5 pushups and squats.  I then finished off with about a 45 min run to complete the workout.  Daily Dare:  I was really late to the today’s DD, hence I am way in the back.  It was relatively simple tho – not challenging in the least.  Preliminaries: No issues here at all; not really any help from the regular workout but it did a bit a supplimenting.  Distance:  Added 7.80 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Manage Energy, Minimize Distraction, Focus on Priorities!  Ciao!

Summary: Felt a bit sloppy today.  I had to do the run and then stretches – it just was a bit disjointed.  I took a shower before working on the stretch – muscles felt cold.  DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio and Stretching”.   A repeat of a few days ago – consists of a 30min run actually did over 1hr, followed by toe touch and hip flexor stretch and then calf raises.      Daily Dare: Today’s DD was again not that challenging.  In fact I used it to supplement my regular workout.  It is a day ahead but that’s ok, I don’t typically get to fold DD into regular workout.  Preliminaries: No issues here at all; no help from the regular workout even.  Distance:  Added 5.70 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Manage Energy, Minimize Distraction, Focus on Priorities!  Ciao!

Summary: Smooth day.  Up early did my meditation (4 in a row) and get to doing my thing.   Had a really tempered workout – not rushed or too intense.    DareBee Exercise: Today was “Upper Body Focus”.   This essential consisted of alternating punches and pushup.  I like these types of workout because my pushup has become so developed.  I will never let them go away again.    Daily Dare: Today’s DD was not that challenging to be honest.  I did it a few time but I could see this becoming more intense the longer you were to hold it.    Preliminaries: No issues here still.  I did get some help with the pushups.  Distance:  Added 5.60 mi to my total on my way to Boise.    I will seek to Gain Strength in the quiet moments!  Ciao!

Summary: Get on a roll here.  Up early again (3) with my meditation action and it is feeling good.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Endurance”.  It was weird – and honestly, it was pretty challenging.  It comprised – squat hold, regular and wide planks, side raised leg hold, leg raised hold and superman hold.  Honestly, holding each for 60 sec was no for the faint of heart.  I feel good tho.  Daily Dare: Today’s DD was pretty good.  Not too challenging, but got the heart rate going for a bit.  Preliminaries: No issues here.  I wasn’t able to work in anything, but the movements for the regular set were affected by them.   Distance:  Added 5.71 mi to my total on my way to Boise.    I will seek to Gain Strength in the quiet moments!  Ciao!

Summary: Up early with meditation and all before dropping Chey off.  Great start to the day.  Lower back is not hurting as much, probably read here yesterday.  At any rate go up today and was surprised, it feels good.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Ab Circuit and Cardio”.  Pretty straight forward, did some situps, sit twists and flutter kicks and then did a run.  Not that exciting but pretty cool and effective.   Daily Dare: Today’s DD was not that bad.  I did it at midnight before going to bed so I was either the number 4 or 5 person on the board.  I like all things pushup now.  This was a bit exotic, but pretty cool.   Preliminaries: No issues here.  Even though I goofed on the abs (I initially did less than I was supposed to) I came out ahead after going back and finishing up.  All around ok workout day.   Distance:  Added 6.50 mi to my total on my way to Boise.    I will seek to Gain Strength in the quiet moments!  Ciao!

Daily Dares : 40 Side-to-Side Ape Hops
Summary: Not up as early as the two previous mornings. I am still experiencing that nagging a** pain in my lower back right side.  I am stretching the crap out of it tho, hopefully I will see some break through here soon. I will give it until mid-December and then I am going in to see the PT.  DareBee Exercise: Today was “Shadow Boxing and Focus Leg Circuit Cardio”.  This is a first.  The shadow boxing was wicked long and a bit boring to be honest and consisted of jab, cross, hook and uppercut.  The leg portion was a just barely more tolerable – it consisted of squats, lunges and side leg raises.  Can’t complain too much it did help me out with pre’s.  Daily Dare: Today’s DD was relative easy again.  I did them relatively late-ish so I am way in the back.  Neila did them – they were cool.  Preliminaries: No issues as usual – the leg raises as mentioned above helped out some.  Distance:  Added 5.65 mi to my total on my way to Boise.    I will Gain Strength in the quiet moments!  Ciao!

Daily Dares : 60 Sec Calf Raise Hold
Summary: Up early and go on DareBee front page.  I have been experiencing that nagging lower back right side pain.  It has been a bit more consistent now and it almost seems as though it responds to stretches.  I do need to go in and see a PT about it though.  At over 220 days of activity, I can’t afford for anything to mess with this.    DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio Stretching”.  I have never done this combination either, but it was really cool.  I did toe touch and hip flexor stretches, followed by calf raises.  Each exercise was held for 1min and I did 5 sets.  This was followed by a brisk walk with 5lbs.  It was supposed to be 2lbs, but I couldn’t find anything suitable weighing 2 lbs that I could take on the journey.  All around I like this workout; the only drawback was that I did not workout earlier.   Daily Dare: Today’s DD was relative easy.  I think I would have to hold it for about 2min before starting to feel any tension.   Preliminaries: No issues.  I got no help from the main event, but that’s okay, I had a nice burn and push through with no issues.   Distance:  Added 6.50 mi to my total on my way to Boise.    I will Gain Strength in the quiet moments!  Ciao!

Summary: Another good workout day.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Body Weight Cardio”.  I have never done this combination of movements but it was really a good workout – too many to list so check it out here.  Daily Dare: Today’s DD was really pretty cool.  I did it for the first time a few days ago and got a real nice burn from it.  I was glad to see it here today again.  Preliminaries: Really great today because I was able to work in many during the regular routine.  I also was able to superset the one I did by going level 3 on the regular routine.  Distance:  Added 5.50 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  I will Gain Strength in the quiet moments!  Ciao!

Summary: Good workout day today as well.  I am getting the workout piece down somewhat, but it still is taking a bit longer than I like.  I do feel a bit in a standstill right now, but I am deliberately trying to take my time.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio and Abs & Core”.  I am pretty sure I have never done this before, but it was pretty cool.  I had a nice run after a series of regular and side elbow planks.   Daily Dare: Today’s DD was really easy – chest expansion can be a bit liberating to be honest.   Preliminaries: No issues here again, but it was awesome – I did my 80 pushup test today and had no issues whatsoever; hopefully by the end of the year I can do my 100 push ups without a hitch – that will be cool and I am looking forward to it.   Distance:  Added 6.90 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Love is a Gift!  Ciao!

Summary: Early workout took me about 2 hours to do everything.  I feel a bit tired at the end of that time so I since I am cutting out the evening work, I will have to take a rest period and work late.  I might try getting up earlier to make up some time as well.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio and Leg Focus Circuit”.  I can’t remember if this was a repeat, but added to the pre’s which are more like the focus, I got a real run for my money this morning.  It included a 20min run/jog/walk followed by some sprints. This is followed by some lunge step ups, side leg raises and jump squats.  I did the leg workout first, along with the pre’s and then the run outside.  Today was relatively intense.  Daily Dare: Today’s DD was good.  I love knee strikes; alternating was actually pretty good too.  Preliminaries: No issues here again, save for the fact that they are becoming more and more the central part of the workout. Summary: I continue to change it up quite a bit.  I pushed my workout ahead of everything and not to do the twice a day thing.  The evening cardio just made it a bit off for me – at least of now.  DareBee Exercise: Today was “Upper Body Focus”.  This is a repeat somewhat and includes – alternating punches and pushups, totally 100 punches and 200 punches.  I like this alt regiment a lot.  Daily Dare: Today’s DD was  a good reprieve from yesterday’s tricep dip hold. I was able to get some support for my pre’s as well.  Preliminaries: No issues here again, I was able to work in slow climbers in support.  Distance:  Added 7.50 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  So as I think I am!  Ciao!

Summary: Still a bit out of sorts in changing up the schedule.  I some ways I don’t feel like I am getting enough done, but I must trust my instincts here.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio and Sprints”.  This included a 20min run followed by 2 sets of 10x push up – sprint (2min) – 10x squats -sprint (2min).   It was pretty enjoyable – really.  Daily Dare: Today’s DD was  pretty tough, I barely and I mean barely made EC.  In fact I had to start over a whole bunch of time and in one of the series actually made it through.   Preliminaries: No issues here again.  Distance:  Added 7.90 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Today I must be better!  Ciao!

Summary: Sort of changed it up a bit today.  Still trying to figure out the best way to maximize my energies.  I tend to do a flurry of activities in the morning based on rote and while that’s fine, I have to tighten it up a bit.  I need to hit based on energies.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Upperbody and Abs”.  This included a series of arm movement – chops and rotations, followed by leg raises, scissors and circles.  Generally, relatively tame, but DD did not make it any easier.  Daily Dare: Today’s DD was  not what I expected, since I had to do a whole bunch during the regular regiment, but somehow they felt easier by the time I got to them.  Preliminaries: No issues at all here.  Distance:  Added 7.41 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  I will work in someway to make the world better today!  Ciao!

Summary: Pretty good workout, had to get caught up with a lot of work since we were on the road.  I have to find a better way to keep on top of.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio and Stretching”.  This included toe touches, hip flexor stretch and calf raises, preceded by a 20 min walk/run.  Pretty good workout. Daily Dare: Today’s DD was  not what I would call easy, it requires a pretty strong back and it while it did not stress me too much, I got a nice little burn from it.  Preliminaries: Felt really good, no issues at all.  Distance:  Added 7.00 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Look inward first!  Ciao!

Summary: Another great workout at the hotel before leaving today.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Upperbody Focus”.  This was pretty straight forward – whole bunch of punches along with a whole bunch of pushups.   Daily Dare: Today’s DD was way too easy.  You do get a burn though, don’t if you do it properly, but it was pretty easy nonetheless.  Preliminaries: Felt really good, no issues at all.  Distance:  Added 5.51 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Beauty is Strength!  Ciao!

Summary: This is late reporting due to being taken up with Clyde Jr’s wedding.  Got a pretty good at the hotel gym.  It was in fact a pretty nice gym too.   DareBee Exercise: Today was “Cardio/Circuit Focus Legs”.  The legs portion included squats, side-to-side lunges and side leg raises.  I did 100 of each.    Daily Dare: Today’s DD was a bit challenging, but I enjoyed it.  Preliminaries: No issue at all, I was able to work in a squats and had a great time.   Distance:  Added 8.70 mi to my total on my way to Boise.   Love Strong Everytime!  Ciao!

Summary:  Really good workout today.  I am not done yet, I still have to do 60mins of cardio – which I will be doing as soon as I am done with this.   DareBee Exercise: Today’s was “Cardio/Abs Circuit”.  The abs portion was straightforward  situps, sitting twists and flutter kicks.  I did 100 of each.    Daily Dare: Today’s DD was way too easy.  You do get a burn though, don’t if you do it properly, but it was pretty easy nonetheless.  Preliminaries: Felt really good, no issues at all.  Distance:  Added 8.01 mi to my total on my way to Boise.   Deep Love is where Freedom Exists!  Ciao!

Daily Dares : 40 Plank Jacks
Summary:  Whoa! Today was kind of a wake up call.  It was a bit challenging but good – I need to whip the lead out.   DareBee Exercise: Today’s was “Endurance” and it sure call an all of that and then some – 240 Jumping Jacks and High Knees, 2 min plank and walk sit.  I had to go for level 2 on the plank and wall sit because I was just too shot.  It gave me all day to do but I did not want to spread it out.   Daily Dare: Today’s DD was pretty cool.  These types of movements are pretty hard on the toe joint, but doing them every now and then I think is fine.    Preliminaries: Since upping to 80, this is becoming a major factor in the workout.  I am now feeling this as a part of the workout than just mere warm up.  Go tho, keep it going.    Distance:  Added 6.00 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Today I will endeavor to be my best self – show kindness, warmth and love!  Ciao!

Summary:  Starting a new program is always a good feeling.  Achievement drives intention – I love it.   DareBee Exercise: Today’s was just a mix of Cardio and Leg circuit.  Pretty straight forward – my fitness level had me not stressing this at all.  Daily Dare: Today’s DD was awesome – Love Jumping Jacks – did 160 total.    Preliminaries: Upped it to 80s now, it is awesome to see how my pushups have become so good.  Some of the exercises are a bit boring, so I will try to see if I can switch out with comparable.  All in all it was a great day.  Distance:  Added 7.54 mi to my total on my way to Boise.  Going into the world with light!  Ciao!
