Retrospective Log:
April 1-30, 2025: I am now 2890 Days (approximately: 7 Years, 3 Month – LINK) and still maintaining my workout streak.
As I write this on May 1 , (for the first time I am doing this on the 30th). Continuing along where we ended last month, Trumps Tariffs are going but, as expected, not going well at all. He has already pulled back on several fronts and while he is boasting success, as he always does when sh*t’s not going well, it is becoming clear to most (because his diehards will never break) that the clown is clowning. It is also coming to light that for all the firing of federal employees that DOGE under his goon Elon has done, it has not garnered anything close to what the effort was intended. At this point it is becoming clearer that this crazy sh*t show run by this clown is not gonna do anything for the average man. Now, with that being said, I am under no illusion that this is making big times for him and his rich buddies. So while he is ignorant all what it means to run the country or even care about its people, he is at the front of the line as a criminal running a criminal enterprise. And with enough smart people around him, he doesn’t need to know much. The pigs are at the trough, let them feed. Our country, I believe is strong enough to withstand even these parasites.
AREA 1:
Body:
**Injuries/Aches: After pulling back some at the start of the month, I pretty much enjoyed a mostly pain-free month. I still do have aches and I expect that I will continue to, but pain is what I am trying to stay away from. My right shoulder feels much better, the ache as moved to what feels like my armpit. I have backed off the exercises some, but believe it is wise to keep them up. My left should is starting up a bit, so I think I just need to back off the weights on my lateral raises and just go for a f-ton of reps.
**Routine: This areas has gotten much better in terms of schedules. With titrating my shoulder issues, I did not push too much this month. I think I may have gotten a few PRs this month, but I expect to get less and less over time if I am doing this right. I am not average 4+mi walking days and I have, as promised, picked up my runs. I have been focusing on baseline running, mainly because I am trying to do my runs in a fasted state right now to tighten up my waist some, but definitely will be moving into HIIT territory soon to reap the benefits of VO@ Max and HRV which taken a backseat in recent months. I will be arranging to get some measurement done at UF in the coming months, so I can tighten up my heuristics. BP continues to track in the 120s/70s for the most part.
**Tracked Metrics: I did pretty good, I am now not hitting my cardio time and caloric burn as routinely, since I adjusted the way I calculate them. That is ok, I am not too worried about those numbers really; I figure as long as I am hitting a certain threshold, then I am ok. I think, as I indicated last month, that as I continue to increase my cardio then those numbers will right themselves. Rowing is back on my mind, since May starts the new season. I will have to hurry up with this edition and get out in the garage and start readying my erg. With that, I need to also get my bike in gear as well. I have been making some strides in the sleep department, but that is slow progress now and I will take it.
**Supplements: No change here: 2x Berberine with meals, Psyllium Husk (fiber), multi-vitamins, B-complex and Magnesium.
**Diet: No real change in recent month – things are continuing at steady-state. I need to continue ensuring that I get in good protein, especially after gym session. My paunch started to get in the way, so I am currently in the middle of serving it notice. I am sure with the increase in fasted runs, I will be able to achieve some success in that department. I still have not weighed myself in some time. I suspect that with the weight lifting I have put on some poundage – mostly muscle. My legs are getting huger; in fact, I am started to rub thighs, something that I have not done in a long time. So right now I would continue to estimate my weight around (180 +/- 5). At the end of the day my focus remains – (From a previous entry: The big focus this year again is on A1c, kidney health, prostate health, cardio health, muscle gain and weight maintenance). So far I think I am doing well in each department.
Goals:
**Spanish: My streak on Duolingo (995 Day) 9AUG2022 and Drops (767 Days). I have completed Duolingo Level 4 (CEFR A1 and A2) and have worked through Section 5 Unit 47 (B1) to this point. I had hope to complete Unit 5 by the end of April or earlier but I will need an extra week. Rocket Language and Drops continue to do there thing, but the New Spanish Program called – Simple Stories in Spanish that mentioned last month, has really been working wonders for me. I am now able to listen and understand at a very high level. The stories are in simple writing but it goes to show that comprehension (at a pretty fast rate of reading) is possible with the right vocabulary. How to continue showing progress on this front.
**Reading: This continues to go great so far. I started Death and at the same time a new approach to reading. I sped through the first 5 books and decided to read this book at a slower page and make notes. It is taking me longer but I think – 1. I am getting faster at the process, 2. I am understanding and getting more out of the time spent, 3. I am enjoying a whole lot more. The idea here is not about the numbers, it is now slowing down and having a conversation with the author. I think this will go faster as I get better at it. No rush dude.

World: Pope Francis passed away on Easter Monday (21st) from a stroke in his residence .
World: Israel-Hamas conflict continue. Israel recently bombed most of the remaining upright structure in the N. Palestine.
World 2: Ukraine-Russia war continues. Zelensky-Trump met at the Pope’s funeral. Putin calls for a ceasefire.

Still have not missed a day of Daily Dare – yup; not a one.
(Kept from previous foreword) – Additionally, I have added a couple layers of complexity or demand to my workout. First, I am religiously sticking to DareBee and the Daily Dare; I am also, keeping the preliminaries. Second, I have added a consecutive component – so, starting with the end of IronBorn (9 April 2017), I have worked consecutively. I intend to push for 60 straight day, then see if I can get to 90. So far I am enjoying it and my body seems to be rising to the occasion. I caught the flu a few day before the end of the last phase (around May 2017) – I worked through it and was back up in only a couple of days. It appears pushing through and forcing my body to continue working, I was able to push the flu out of my way. I am also continuing my virtual push to OKC via Benton. I am really enjoying that but I will have to pick up the mileage here in the next phase as I am running out of time. Keep leaning forward.
